10 Super Affiliate Tips for Success

Contrary to popular belief, Super affiliates don’t really DO things differently than affiliate underachievers. Super affiliates promote the same products. They use the same SEO techniques. They have the same headaches. And they work just as hard.

But Super affiliates THINK differently. Their minds and attitudes go far beyond the commission check. For them, affiliate marketing is not just a business. It’s a CAREER. And that professional mindset makes a huge difference in how and when they take action in the marketplace. So ask yourself, “Could I learn to think this way?”

#1 – Super affiliates think creatively.

You know what you’ll get if you do what everyone else does? You’ll get what they get… only you’ll be splitting it with them, and all their imitators.

In today’s Internet marketplace, you need to be a leader, not a follower. So Super affiliates don’t follow the crowd. They sell TO the crowd. They take the most successful marketing techniques, apply them to selling the most popular products… and then add a unique spin.

It could be as simple as offering one unusual, but highly valuable bonus. It could be as sensible as using low-cost offline marketing, while everyone else is breaking the bank on expensive PPC. It could be as innovative as dumping the sales letter, and substituting a quiz or contest. But Super affiliates always, always, ALWAYS look for ways to be alittle more creative than their competitors.

#2 – Super affiliates learn the hard stuff.

Less than 10% of people who start their own business are successful. Why? Most fail because they lack direct sales experience, don’t bother with a marketing and business plan, or get into debt promoting products that don’t have a market. In other words, they flunk when they get tested on the really tough aspects of business.

Super affiliates are different. They learn how to do all the “hard’ things other people shy away from. They learn about selling and they get good at it. They set goals, make daily and weekly plans, and measure their progress. They don’t waste time creating huge content sites unless they have hard evidence that those sites will eventually bring them BUYERS (not just browsers or researchers).

And most of all, they keep their eye on PROFITABILITY. Not just traffic, not just visitors. Super affiliates look for a return on their investment of time and effort, as well as money.

#3 – Super affiliates follow up.

Most affiliates can attract prospects. A few can convert prospects into customers. But only Super affiliates turn existing customers into repeat customers.

Super affiliates know that the person who has already bought from you is the most willing prospect for your backend products, upsells, and cross-sells. These current customers are also the cheapest to sell to. So Super affiliates are always thinking of the lifetime value of a customer… and always offering them the best value and deals.

#4 – Super affiliates give before receiving.

Super affiliates invest time and money giving something of REAL value. Before they ask for the sale… and before they seal a JV. Maybe they give away useful content. Maybe they offer a valuable resource. Maybe they offer to put in some sweat equity for a piece of the action. Maybe they offer customers a chance to win something… or a smile.

But no matter WHAT they give, Super affiliates do business in a spirit of openness. It’s not about beating the other guy. It’s about networking and making alliances. It’s about viewing the Internet marketplace as one great big “small town.” It’s about saying “let’s talk.” And it’s about putting something – money, effort, or reputation – on the table BEFORE making demands.

#5 – Super affiliates know how to receive.

Giving is the best first step – but it’s only the beginning. Once they’ve hammered out a deal or given something of value, Super affiliates also know how to take what they rightfully deserve.

That means they don’t just pre-sell… they ASK prospects for the sale. They’re not afraid to capitalize on a good deal. They LIKE profits and don’t apologize for being successful. And if they’re working on a JV, they state their expectations clearly, forthrightly, without a lot of fuss… and don’t de-value their list or reputation with cheesy offers.

Yes, the best Super affiliates receive their just rewards graciously, without throwing their egos around. And they not only say thank you. They look for ways to turn a “thank you” into an opportunity to generate more customer loyalty and more sales down the line.

#6 – Super affiliates think strategically.

Affiliate marketing isn’t a game of chance. It’s a profession. Super affiliates are just as savvy about their industry, and just as uninvolved, as other expert professionals.

Which means Super affiliates spend quality time thinking, planning, preparing, and evaluating. They analyze their sites, products, and sales. They try to understand WHY one technique works and another doesn’t. They think about trends and ponder the mentality of their customers.

Bottom line is, Super affiliates LOVE their work.

#7 – Super affiliates test and analyze.

Profit, profit, profit… super affiliates are hard-headed about profits! They split-test carefully. They think about WHY one ad pulls better than another… and they try to duplicate the results. They analyze their traffic, stats, and user purchase patterns. They’re fanatics about knowing their visitor to sales ratio on a daily basis. And they’re obsessed with ROI.

If you want to say goodbye to the ranks of affiliate underachievers, learn to love the numbers like the Super affiliates do.

#8 – Super affiliates know when to go for volume over commission.

Here’s a very well-kept secret of some Super affiliates: you can earn a fantastic income from cheap untargeted traffic. Believe it or not, not every Super affiliates is brilliant at creating content or opt-in marketing. Some just concentrate on traffic — more and bigger traffic — and make money off of sheer volume sales and contextual advertising.

Here’s the basic formula, oversimplified of course: Let’s say that on a given web site you get 1000 unique visitors per day, or 30,000 visitors per month. If your average monthly profit from that site is $1500, then each visitor is worth 5 cents ($1500 divided by 30,000 visitors).

So in this example, if you spend 5 cents to attract a visitor, all you can do is break even. But if you can spend a lot less to get a visitor — say only 2 cents — you’ve got the potential to make some terrific profits on cheap traffic! Sure, it’s not going to be tightly niched traffic. But it’s also the kind of traffic that fits well with products that have mass-market mass-appeal, or even commodity products.

#9 – Super affiliates work a plan.

Successful affiliates have a simple business model: they replicate their success. Once they find something that works, they tweak it slightly, test, evaluate, and repeat. Some of the most profitable affiliate empires follow this simple, repetitive pattern. Consistent effort tends to yield consistent results, especially online, where certain types of marketing (like SEO) take time.

And more importantly, Super affiliates follow a schedule. So much activity per month, so many promotions, so many sales. When they fall short of their goals, they figure out why. If they can’t, they cut their losses and try again.

Working a plan all boils down to discipline. Organization, tracking, and daily project management are a way of life for Super affiliates.

#10 – Super affiliates never quit.

They may ruthlessly dump under-performing products. They may cut their losses if the profits don’t flow. But Super affiliates don’t give up. They assume that they’re going to have some bumps and hard times. They look at setbacks as essential learning experiences that, in the end, help them build a stronger business.

Why You Should Focus On Organic Search Results Rather Than PPC Advertising

Published by affiliate under Uncategorized Edit This

There is a simple answer to why you should concentrate on organic search results rather than PPC advertising: it’s cheaper. With PPC, you pay to play. As such, it’s a good way for new businesses to get a foothold in search engine rankings. Ideally, though, you won’t have to do this forever and you’ll have a top ten ranking without ever having to pay for it. That’s the dream of every site owner. I personally have many such sites in my web inventory.

You should try to make the dream a reality. One of the problems with PPC advertising is that it becomes a kind of crutch. Overnight you can get a top ten search result for a search—a great result with relatively little work, just cost. What happens is that site owners rely too heavily on PPC campaigns and don’t focus enough energy on organic search results. Imagine if your business was in the top ten of both the sponsored and standard search results: you’ll have twice the visibility.

If you have a high ranking via organic search results two things have happened: you have a number of backlinks to your site and your site has been optimized via content for that search phrase. Other things affect search engine rankings, but these are the two basic ones. The second issue is supremely important because it means you are providing a content-rich site for new web surfers. Content is not just a way to rank high in the search engines but a way to create an impressive site that will inspire repeat visitors. The results are two-fold.

There are some other very important issues at stake. In Google, for one, organic search results are much larger and more immediate than sponsored results, which are off to the side. Web surfers very often look to organic search results first. The quality of sites using sponsored results is also waning, almost to the point that these sites seem like spam. The longer this continues, the more people will click on organic results before sponsored results.

In the early going, web surfers were not savvy enough to realize that sponsored results were a PPC marketing effort. This is less true today. The thinking is that if a site lands in the top ten without having to pay for it, they must be the best resource on the topic. Finally, another issue is that pay-per-click bidding costs are on the rise. It makes just as much sense to hire a content-writing firm to create pages of new content for the site, and optimize that content for search engines, as it does to invest in PPC.

Organic Real Estate as opposed to PPC

When it comes to real estate, people usually shout out the mantra: location, location, location. When it comes to web real estate, you could say the same thing: location, location, location in search engines. Organic real estate on the web refers to the positioning your website has on the web landscape. A solid organic real estate design and SEO strategy will make a website as necessary a destination as the corner market. In short, organic real estate keeps a website from languishing unseen in cyberspace. So how does Organic Real Estate work? What makes Organic Real estate, well, organic? The main feature of Organic Real Estate is quality, informative content. This is what sets quality SEO plans apart from those that are merely trying to trick search engine spiders. Content should be natural, not written as if composed by a machine. Natural, well-written web content will increase page rank at a faster rate than content that is written only with keywords in mind.

This is especially important for web entrepreneurs who run affiliate sites. Web surfers are getting savvy to the fact that many affiliate sites are just a dummy site set-up to “hopefully” bring in some sales. Experienced affiliate marketers know that you can make a site that is as competitive, and useful, as the affiliate’s host site. The more quality content there is on your site, the better an affiliate site can separate itself from the crowded web marketplace.

But Organic Real Estate is about a lot more than content—and this is where a lot of SEO plans fall short. In addition to providing content, a site owner must determine a target audience. In one way, content and target audience go hand in hand. You have to figure out target audience and tailor content accordingly. In addition, you may have a different target audience for different products or services offered on your site. Content and keyword targeting must be tailored to each potential type of client and customer.

Without these strategies, what will you have: a site that looks more like a link-factory than a trusted resource in a particular industry. In the past, people stressed the need for quality web design. While this is no doubt important, it is now much easier for amateur’s to design a high-quality looking site. It is far less easy for site owners to provide fresh and useful content. You’ll find a bevy of nice-looking sites with little or nothing to offer in terms of content. In Web 2.0, content is what separates the great from the mediocre, and the organic from the artificial.

Most excellent content sites are not top design examples. In fact, if you can design a simple site to answer the query made by the searcher, the chances are that a sale will result in about every 50 visits to that page. This is a good average, and some affiliates can actually convert at an even higher ratio. Make content and product information your focus, and use simple yet professional presentations. No need to have fancy if the content is effective. Make more money by having the answer to specific queries.

Ten landing page tips to turn visitors into customers

Published by affiliate under Uncategorized Edit This

1. Tell them why they should buy from your affiliate links

Clarity of your value proposition is the most important factor in determining

whether a customer buys from you or not. Ask yourself the question: “Why should

the customer buy from this link?”

2. Keep Them with you

Protect your landing pages from the #1 threat to conversions: site flow

disruption. After identifying a unique and compelling Value Proposition, you

must ensure that you express it throughout your sales process in a clear,

consistent and compelling way. Eliminate site flow disruption to help maximize

conversions.

3. Don’t try to say too much

Don’t clutter your landing page with unnecessary details. Instead:

• Clearly state your key message using as few words as possible

• Use summary descriptions, sub-headings, bulleted lists and short paragraphs

• Adopt a standard one-column format for easy reading.

4. Make it simple

Improve the user experience with a site that is easy to navigate. A simple page

layout that employs a clean visual and straightforward design is best. Here’s

how:

• Design your site with a clear hierarchy with color and contrast for easily

legible text

• Use meaningful and high-quality graphics (don’t clutter with too many)

• Use breadcrumbs to let visitors know where they are on your site

• Employ a clickable logo that takes the visitor to your homepage

• Use color to distinguish between visited and unvisited links.

Just as important, make sure you don’t:

• Employ horizontal scrolling

• Direct links to new browser windows

• Have flash-based content unless required.

5. Call them to action

Focus on one primary action per screen (don’t stuff too many products onto one

screen). Make the call-to-action button clearly visible without having to

scroll; don’t bury it under pages of information. Consider using tabs or a

pop-up box to consolidate information.

6. Get specific

Provide product details and a large product image while displaying

incentives—such as warranty information—high on the page and close to the

product. Don’t discourage visitors by requiring registration to your site.

7. Flaunt what you’ve got

What differentiates you from your competitors? If you’ve got it, flaunt it!

8. Search yourself

Make your site easy to navigate by helping potential customers find what they

are looking for as quickly and easily as possible. A search feature box should

be simple and visible with a type-in field, not a link. To help increase

conversions, make sure your search results link to product pages.

9. Rally the believers

Credibility is a true testament: people don’t buy from websites, people buy from

people. Thus, testimonials from devout customers—persuades the unbelieving.

10. Let them make the choice

“Why should I buy this specific product?” Almost every e-tailer forgets about

this, but it’s the question that’s key to Mr. or Ms. Customer’s mind. Prove to

him or her why they should buy this over the competitive product by offering

reviews, ratings and comparisons.

Avantlink Affiliate Network for Merchants is Great

Published by affiliate under Uncategorized Edit This

Affiliate Marketing Resources for Affiliates and Merchants

Avantlink is a relatively newer affiliate network, but very well developed with wonderful tools and reporting stats for affiliates and merchants. They seem to specialize in recruiting merchants that offer outdoor gear like REI and Altrec, Masseys and others. Their listings of merchants are great and afford affiliates super opportunities but from the merchant standpoint they are a wonderful option as well. The cost is affordable for merchants with specific merchandise to sell, but would not work well for online digital products like ebooks or software.

A merchant on Avantlink can offer a “Deal of the Day ” and each day the deal is changed automatically through Avantlink programming and scripting. Merchants can offer their products for sale through html or java script by way of product displays, coupon offers and rss feeds. All these tools are accessible for the affiliate or the merchant by way of the user control panel. Easy to use, the tools area offers a no nonsense way for affiliate members to offer the merchant’s goods for sale on their sites with a few clicks of the mouse. Very useful tools.

Avantlink also promotes new merchants on their site and through their member driven subscriber network. They will notify their members of the new merchant and then the member affiliates will sign up for the new program and begin selling for the new merchant. Great support is evident at Avantlink, making it a great option for many types of merchants who are considering entering affiliate marketing to expand their sales online.

AvantLink provides merchants with an array of unique and useful tools that offer program managers the ability to maximize communications, organize Affiliates into categories or groups, create specialty datafeeds and even sponsor a branded category on their network blog.

Organic Real Estate and Targeted Content

I am Stoked about USFreeAds Premium Ads Selling my Affiliate Products

Once again I have to blog it up about this wonderful site called USFreeAds. They have a dynamic platform for affiliate marketers who are willing to sign up for the Premium Ad Service. I have been selling over the past 9 days through my affiliate networks, and most of the sales have come via clicks from my Premium USFreeAds!

I would not blog about this and tell this story just to get more people to sign up under me in the system. I am an affiliate of the company, and have been for 10 years. The affiliate program makes me a regular income, but it is small in comparison to the commissions I am making from the ads I am creating. Heck, you can believe me or not … your choice on that but I am now certain I must spend some serious time in making more of these ads.

Specifically I am selling bikes. I am an affiliate of 2 really great bike stores that have joined my favorite network Shareasale. The bikes earn me only 5%, but when a bike costs over $3,000, well you can do the math. The commissions are fantastic when there are enough of them coming in! Other things are selling too, like designer sunglasses, which are of course available from a variety of affiliate networks like Amazon.

The USFreeAds are completely HTML friendly if you have the premium membership, which only costs $9.99 monthly, and since I have been doing this since last October, loads of my ads are indexing in search and sticking. The ones I can find through tracking get updated by me with more current offers, since they are already in search. That tends to make them work even better. My speciality is affiliate seo, so this is right up my alley.

Without the premium membership I don’t think I could make the ads do this type of selling. The free ads expire after 40 days, and graphics are not allowed. They do that on purpose so serious marketers will sign up for their unlimited use option, the Premium Membership. I have placed tracking script on the ads, but for some reason they are not showing up in the tracking, but I have another resource for that through the networks that shows me where people are coming from, and then I simply do searches and find my ads. Works well enough, but I need to find a way to track them. I will work that out later. Right now I am going to go make some new ads, and by the way it helps to link the ads to existing pages you may have that are already in search!

Tips to Increase traffic to an affiliate site

What are the best ways to make your affiliate marketing set-up a successful and profitable business? Here are some suggestions on how to drive traffic to your website and increase the volume of your partner’s business.

• Firstly, your website has to be rich in content. Don’t go overboard with banners as visitors to your site will find it annoying, and you won’t get the results you are looking for.

• Experiment with different merchants to find the ones that suit you, because different people find partnerships with different merchants profitable.

• Try to promote several merchants in the same niche on your site, thus giving visitors several options.

• Choose your network carefully too. Here also, it’s a matter of personal preference; experiment before you settle on what network you are going to use.

• Don’t join an affiliate programme just because many others have. Check the programme out carefully and see if it’s the right option for you before you make a decision to sign up.

• Make sure your website is search-engine optimized to increase the number of hits. A video tutorial that explains the benefits of the product you are selling is also a good idea.

• E-mail promotions are also a good way to increase traffic to your partner’s website. Identify your target audience and develop an effective way to reach through emails that will not be perceived as junk mail.

• Try to get yourself a niche market – it’s not a good idea to sell ‘everything to everyone’. Look for new niche ideas by listening to those around you, asking others what they look for when they go online, watch TV, read extensively, including ads, to find out more about what people need.

• Offer bonuses if possible. And develop effective creative material to increase traffic – your website should break clutter and stand out from the plethora of affiliate marketing websites.

• You should communicate well with your partners, and constantly be on the lookout for new ones to increase your profits.

A combination of the above factors will help to improve your affiliate marketing business. In addition, as in any other business, determination and the will to win are an inherent part of affiliate marketing success, so make sure you are truly committed before you embark on an affiliate marketing programme. Sincere effort is sure to win you laurels in this field, and you shouldn’t just work hard, you should work smart, too!

Online Affiliate Marketing Spending To Hit Three Billion

Published by affiliate under Uncategorized Edit This

In 2008 online marketers will spend $2.1 billion on affiliate marketing fees, with U.S. online affiliate marketing spending hitting $3.3 billion in 2012 according to a new report from JupiterResearch, US Online Affiliate Marketing Forecast, 2007-2012.

The report found affiliate marketing remains popular because it is performance based, has a low risk and requires a small initial investment. Marketers tend to work with affiliates that attract the most traffic to their sites, which results in a handful of affiliates bringing the majority of traffic and sales.

Strong affiliates that have quality content and responsible marketing practices succeed within the changing search environment and reap the benefits of a growing ad arena,” said Patti Freeman Evans, Online Retail Analyst and lead author of the report for Jupiter Research.

Affiliate marketing is heavily tied to the search engine marketing industry, making Google a major factor in the overall growth of the industry. Google’s influence over SEM requires affiliates to be aware of Google’s Quality Score.

“To date, an alternate way to generate traffic from search has not materialized. However, the development of niche outlets such as blogs and social networking sites does provide balance to the consolidation of top affiliates,” said David Schatsky, President of Jupiter Research.

Diversification is the key to success in affiliate marketing

Published by affiliate under Uncategorized Edit This

Develop Multiple Streams of Income from top affiliate networks, affiliate progams and other related advertising and revenue sharing programs. I feature these at my site bblmedia.com

Just like a good investment portfolio needs diversification, so does a good affiliate marketing online strategy. Don’t place all your eggs in one basket. The deal is this; A company you are representing can be sold, go out of business or change platforms suddenly. When that happens your affiliate income will be interrupted. To avoid losses that will hurt you, be active in several niche markets so the loss of one will not destroy your business. Do you see the sense of this simple strategy? I have seen it first hand over the years several times. A company changes policy overnight, takes down it’s affiliate program, gets sold to a bigger company, and the whole income stream goes away until they relaunch the program. Have other projects in other markets and through other companies to fall back on. Never put all of your eggs in one basket!

Your goal should be to achieve “Multiple Streams of Income” with your affiliate marketing business. I have about 20 different income streams, and I readily admit they are not all big. However, if one stream of income suddenly goes away, the others can be pumped up and increased to make up the difference. I work in sports, shopping, retail, health, technology and entrepreneurship areas. No one income stream is so big that if I lose it, I will go out of business. I may need to scramble, and I may need to work like heck to overcome a problem, but with diversification, I can survive.

One of the best individual websites that I have used for years is USFreeAds. They have a terrific affiliate program, and they offer a unique service called “Premium Membership” for $9.99 a month. I participate in both, and I have to tell you that when I started the premium membership last October 07, I was confident I would do well, but the performance has well exceeded my greatest expectations by a long shot. The affiliate program is also great, and it is free. Sign up for the affiliate program and start referring members and earning money monthly. Sign up for the Premium Advertising service and watch your income go up and up! I cannot recommend it more, but you have to be willing to keep with it and work it every day or you might as well not try.

I have been growing my business steadily over the past few months and have increased my income on Shareasale Affiliate Network. This is absolutely the finest affiliate marketing network ever created, and eventually I hope to do even better. The tools they have are better and more effective for me than other networks, and they are easy to find and use. This is one of the keys to their success, and helps us be successful too. If you have not signed up for Shareasale then I recommend doing it right now.

Anyway, I could ramble on all day. Just do what I am recommending and make for yourself multiple streams of income so you can survive the coming days of difficulty, which come to all small businesses online or offline. Prepare and plan for success. I think a person should have at least 10 streams of income, but more is even better. If it can happen, it eventually will. Be ready!

Different Methods of Affiliate Marketing

Published by affiliate under Uncategorized Edit This

No matter what type of affiliate website you own, understanding the latest technology trends can help you promote and sell your affiliate offers, products, and services.

New ideas and tools emerge frequently and implementing these new approaches in addition to your current strategy can help keep you one step ahead of the competition.

How can new technologies help your affiliate business? Many of the latest technologies can improve your promotional tactics, increase your website traffic and generate more online sales. The following are just a few of the major emerging technologies that you could use to your advantage.

Blogs – An Important Promotional Tool

While blogs aren’t exactly the newest Web technology in existence, they remain one of the most vital. Blogs can serve as one of your greatest assets for promoting affiliate offers and attracting traffic to your website. These Web logs provide a more personalized experience for your viewers and direct them toward related materials on your site. Linking to your website from your blog is also a great way to ensure your Web pages achieve the best possible search engine rankings. By improving your search ranking results, you can draw in a dramatically larger number of viewers to your website.

Podcasts – An Attractive Marketing Feature

Podcasting has become a popular and appealing marketing tool that allows affiliates to draw in more customers and inspire them to learn more about available offers. Providing free podcasts on your website is a great way to attract new users. The most effective podcasts are those that provide information and tips that listeners find valuable. You can also include a marketing message in your podcast to motivate the listener to purchase your affiliate products and services.

RSS Feeds – Expanding Your Audience

RSS (Real Simple Syndication) offers a fast and simple way to expand your online audience. You can improve the range of your affiliate marketing website by allowing users and other websites to subscribe to your site feed. By doing this, readers will always know about the latest updates to your site. Other websites and blogs can add your feed to their own site. These incoming links can help improve your search engine rankings while also driving targeted users toward your site.

Digital Video – The Viral Revolution

Online videos have emerged as one of the most popular trends in recent years. Online users enjoy producing, watching, and distributing these online clips, which opens up a huge marketing opportunity for affiliates. By producing funny, interesting, or informative videos, affiliate marketers can establish astonishing results with word-of-mouth advertising. Publishing these clips on sites such as YouTube and encouraging users to share the video with friends can significantly expand your online audience.

No matter what topic your affiliate website is devoted to, always consider what emerging technology trends can do for your website. If you don’t already have a blog, start one immediately to reap the rewards of this proven marketing tool. Other technologies such as podcasting, viral video and RSS feeds can also be put to good use. By using emerging technology trends to your advantage, you can get the most out of your affiliate offers and remain one step ahead of the competition.
